Over the years we have developed our own specialties, strengths and ways of working, both together and apart. James is the life-long professional; trained as both a commercial and a people photographer. Karala is a people photographer who loves to capture relationships. She does the graphic design, book layouts, and prefers to do photography that doesn’t require multiple lighting set-up. Continuing to grow in our respective artistic points of view keeps both of us enlivened in our work and keeps everything interesting and fresh. We think our love and passion for our craft/art shows and we hope you enjoy our work. We still do some photography in the San Francisco Bay Area, even though we now live on the Big Island of Hawaii. The Hawaii project has been a work in progress since 1999. When on the mainland we serve the counties of the Greater Bay area including Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, Contra Costa, Alameda, Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino, and Santa Clara. We also travel beyond to Southern California, Lake Tahoe, Monterey, Sun Valley, and Iowa. Of course we serve the Big Island of Hawaii. Close to home are such towns as Kona, Hilo, Keaau, Honokaa, Volcano, Waimea and Pahoa. If you have some other location that is special to you we are happy to consider all requests. Neighboring islands are always an option; we just request travel expenses.
